Fix Blackra1n
This page was created to combine different solutions when Blackra1n does not work or stops:
Here is the guide that will allow you to unlock this terminal without running into the error that prevented the progress of the process after the entry into Recovery Mode.
Requirements:
Firmware 3.1.2 installed on your device (downloadable from here )
Note: Once you reset the firmware you need to make a restart of the device to ensure the successful operation of Jailbreak the iPhone.
Guide:
1. After downloading blackra1n, move the executable in the directory “C: /”.
2. Shut our iPhone 3G and make sure that the USB cable is attached to the device.
3. We initiate blackra1n and press the only button available “ra1n make it”
4. We turn on our iPhone via the Power button and wait until you start. In this passage might open several times iTunes: just close it only via the dedicated button.
5. We expect the successful entry of your iPhone in Recovery Mode (step strictly done by the program itself) and then, after the disappearance of the image that portrays GeoHot, we will be in a LockScreen with our iPhone jailbreak.
6. We go into “Settings> Wi-Fi” and insert the password (if any) of our Wi-Fi home network. We enter, therefore, in the new application installed, blackra1n. With a tap select the package “Cydia” and then the button on the top right “Install”. Done!
Finally you can enjoy the iPhone 3G unlocked, avoiding the annoying error on the Recovery Mode.
Alternative Help:
If the method just presented their works there, try to follow this exposed by Luca[most iPOd Touch]:
1. Connect the iPhone to your computer, close iTunes and click on “Make It Rain” by blackra1n.
2. When the iPhone crashes in recovery mode, and blackra1n remains in “running”, do not close BLACKRA1N and turn off the phone by clicking on Home + Power.
3. The program will tell you that the operation of Jailbreak has been completed but in reality it is not. At this point, then:
- Close Blackra1n;
- Re-open Blackra1n;
- Click on the Make it Rain
- Turn on your phone
The program should recognize the iPhone and completing the Jailbreak.
Problems error Blackra1n QTCF.dll is not found
Blackra1n If you feel the lack of file “QTCF.dll”, download the file from this link and place it in the same folder where blackra1n.exe. Then restart the application.
General problems jailbreak iPhone 3G blackra1n:
1) Sometimes happens that blackra1n not start in Windows because it conflicts with the iTunes program.
To solve this problem open the Task Manager in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.
Use the key combination Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then select the processes tab, select and terminate running processes iTunes.exe and iTunesHelper.
After closing processes start Blackra1n and click on Make it Ra1n
2) Another bug can ‘be solved so’:
after downloading Blackra1n, copy the file in the directory in windows blackra1n.exe “C: /”
Turn off the phone (iPhone 3G) and keep the USB cable connected to your PC and iPhone.
Start Blackra1n and press the “Make it Ra1n”
Turn iPhone 3G using the HOLD button and wait until you start.
Attention in this passage might open iTunes. Close it forever.
Wait for iPhone 3G goes into Recovery Mode and after the disappearance of the image of GeoHot we are going Lockscreen with our iPhone jailbreak.
Now connect on WiFi from “Settings> WiFi and connect.
(Please note if you can not connect to WiFi network or do not see the icon.)
We find then applying Blackra1n and select the package “Cydia“, after click install.
3) The final method for bugs with iPhone 3G:
Connect your iPhone 3G to the PC. close itunes and click on “Make it Ra1n” software.
If your iPhone 3G hangs in Recovery Mode, and blackra1n remains in “running”, do not close Blackra1n, turn off your iPhone with the keys Home + Hold

My phone has run out of battery and i have use Blackra1n to start it back but this time my Blackra1n cant work. everytime i “Make it Rain!” it will have error and off my blackra1n
I bought my iphone 3G in the U.S. and I cracked it, my software version is 3.1.2 (7d11) and I want to update it.
I also Blackrain on my phone, Please tell me how can I upgrade to version 4.0.1
I can install it via itunes because I already Blackrain? other process or should I do?

i got a 3GS 3.2.1 jailbroken iphone blocked on a recovery mode i’v tried to launch blackra RC3 several times but the iphone keep on rebooting after one or 2 minutes of geohots pictures and got the apple pictures and again the revovery mode (itunes logo withe the cable) I’m desperate please Help. i’v tried every thing

When i “make it rain” my phone will go into the geohot screen and reboot but after reboot i dont have the balckra1n app on my phone. Can you please help?
Blackra1n has my jailbroken itouch stuck in recovery mode and holding buttons doesnt work. i cant afford to restore it because i dont have everything backed up…Black ra1n really effed me over. Im on a Mac OS X.
i tried downloading tons of programs and ifuntastic is the only one that recognized that it was in recovery mode *besides itunes* and u can supposedly get it out with this program but i have no idea how. its an itouch gen. 3 (3.1.2)? It was jailbroken before i plugged it to black ra1n. I NEED HEEELLP!

I have a ipod Touch its firmware is 4.2.1 and the blackra1n is telling that it has completed jailbreak but nothing happens in it, it also don’t show geohot photo after completing of blackra1n and it is not been install after rebooting.
Tried the first fix but when I started the process again it just went through the same things it did before and still stopped at “running…” I’m so confused. Please help
Here is a proper howto:
1) Download blackra1n
blackra1n will now recognize the device is in recovery mode and begin working.
2) Copy blackra1n.exe to c:\program files\common files\apple\apple application support\
3) plug in your iphone/ipod to your computer and wait for itunes to open
4) turn off your iphone/ipod
5) start blackra1n.exe
6) click make it rain
7) put iphone/ipod in DFU mode by holding POWER until apple logo appears, then hold the HOME button and let go of the POWER button.
9) wait until it is finished running, you will get a popup.
10) check blackra1n.log to see if there are an ERROR lines
11) if there are ERRORS then try again
12) if there are no ERRORS you are done.

ummm wtf do i do if it has the error failed to strat because ASL.dll was not found?? i cant even run black ra1n… is it because i’m on version 4.1?? or that my ipod is stuck in recovery mode… i read that i can turn my ipod back on by using black ra1n and while it says running i turn my ipod back on and it should work again… but i cant get black ra1n to run… why?
i got it running… but it stays stuck in running… and when i g to close it it says it is complete but isn’t… does anyone know how to restore a jailbroken ipod that is stuck in recovery mode? please i need help
i was deleting some themes from my cydia and it turned off and them tured on but only the apple sighn keeps coming up and then goes off and repeats this untill batery goes out and i got an update but that didnt work and i can turn it off but wene i turn on the same thing happens so i have no clue wat to do so can u plzzz help me

I’ve got an iPhone 3G, and I paid for someone to jailbreak it, my software version is 3.1.2 (7d11) and the modem firmware is 05.11.07 (if this info helps) and I want to update it.
I also have Blackrain on my phone, Could you please tell me how I can upgrade to version 4.3 or the latest one, since most of the application needs the latest versions

blackra1n “running” but my phone still shows the cord pointing to itunes.
I have aeroplane mode on. passwords off. wifi off. saved the file in the right spot, ive closed itunes, ive done blackra1n a thousand different ways with no success.

Hey Im trying to jailbreak my ipod. on your 3rd method for fixing blackra1n. Do u have any ideas for how to do this with a broken home button. I know there are mods and java programs that do things like that

I can’t turn the phone off once its plugged in just comes up with the connect to itunes screen and cant turn it on when it not plugged it. Make it rain runs for a minute then says its not responding.
