Resolve error 1015 during the downgrade the firmware for Mac OSX
A few days ago I wrote a guide how to troubleshoot error 1015 when you downgrade the firmware for both iPhone iPod Touch.
The guide was only for Windows. After many requests I wrote the guide for Mac OSX.
iRecovery for MAC OSX Download
Extract the archive and run the terminal iRecovery
Then type the following string given sent to each
online:
cd desktop
./iRecovery -s
setenv auto-boot true
saveenv
/exit
Final Step: Reboot now your device by holding down the power button and the Home button. You will now run the downgrade from firmware 3.1.3 to firmware 3.1.2 and you can follow the usual guides to jailbreak firmware 3.1.2.

i cant downgrade 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 what do i do????

when i turn on the terminal, it just says failed to find image and then logs out..Can u help me with it? Am i doing anything wrong? I try to restore it from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 and when the error comes i run the terminal…But i cant type anything because it just logs off…please help…

Hi all, I figured out how to make this work, open the link, then copy the above text, go back to terminal, click edit, then click paste escaped text, then carry out the restore process.
I have an iPhone 3GS 3.1.3, MB, 5.12,
My question is has anyone successfully downgraded with the same iPhone type/firmware?

I did every thing except when i wright “./iRecovery -s” it appear for me “-bash: ./iRecovery: No such file or directory” what I have to do now ???!!!

The method for the whole thing is a bit unclear, my home button is broken so im trying to downgrade so i can jailbreak and then use an app instead of the home button
I’m trying to do the same as David, jailbreak with a broken power button. when I run iRecovery I get the same message. any solutions??
Just ignore the error and run blackr1an. After 5 min turn the phone off then on and voilà

Hello, any chance you know of a way to bypass a 1015 if I’m running a jailbroken 3G with 4.2.1, iPad baseband, which is stuck in recovery mode and keeps getting the 1015? I’ve tried various things including iREB to greenscreen it then custom restore with Shift-click in iTunes, and TinyUmbrella to kick it out of recovery and then running redsn0w, and all of them just get me 1015s in the end. I’ve been trying to restore to my custom 4.2.1 and also a 4.1 I downloaded. Maybe I should try a 3.x, but honestly I’d rather not. Any ideas? Note that my 1015 did not originate from trying to downgrade, but rather from my phone just freezing at the Apple screen, and me doing a hard restore with the buttons to put it in recovery. I’ve played around with DFU mode and doing the above processes, too, to no affect. Any ideas much appreciated.
hi fourth, have same problem as you, apparently tinyumbrella can’t boot out of dfu with 4.2.1, they have written that they fixed the glitch. You might have better luck than me… still stuck!
help me,i was download the itunes and tries to sync music,i don’t know what i’ve done,my iphone said itunes with a plugging , i do anything,pressed the restore button and its loading for a while,then it said ” The iPhone “ipPhone” could not restored. An unknown error occurred ( 1015 ) please help me,i can’t even call or do something with it
