Blackra1n definitive Guide: How to Jailbreak your iPhone, iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch using Blackra1n
Finally here is the long awaited GUIDE to unlock (jailbreak) any Apple device with firmware 3.1.2. The devices are all the unlockable versions of the iPhone, or 3GS, 3G and 2G, and all versions of the iPod Touch, or 1G, 2G and 3G. For Owners owners of iPod Touch 2G or 3G seems that there is a problem. Read the bottom of the post. Good jailbreak.
This guide has been published by the Biggest ipmart and allow you to unlock and jailbreak and then subjected to all versions of iPhone (3GS, 3G and 2G) and all versions of the iPod Touch (1G, 2G and 3G) with Firmware 3.1.2 . Users owners of iPod Touch 2G or 3G are requested to use the steps listed at the bottom of the post because it seems that the “official” gives some problems or is not effective.
IMPORTANT! This guide only works for firmware version 3.1 onwards, so if you have installed version 3.0.1 then you need to update your device before you follow this guide. You should also perform an upgrade to version 3.1.2 if you are using firmware 3.1, it seems that with the latest firmware version that does not by any kind of problem, but with Firmware version 3.1 some users have complained of some difficulty. used directly from version 3.1. To overcome the “famous” problem of loss of 500MB of memory you will need to restore a firmware “clean” (original) instead of your firmware “jailbreakkato” before performing an UPDATE.
UPDATE blackra1n RC2! For Mac and Windows! At the bottom of the post found the link to download the new version of blackra1n, or the RC2. In the new version corrects some bugs and I advise you, if you have not already done so to unlock (jailbreak) your terminal with the new software. For the procedure to be followed instead you can easily follow this guide.
9 Make sure you have iTunes installed on your computer.
If you are using the 3.1.2 firmware then you absolutely must do a restart of the terminal before starting blackra1n on the PC.
This guide does not go quite done with terminal also updates the baseband foreigners because it is impossible to the possible release (unlock) the constraints of telephone operators.

1.For first blackra1n Get the software from one of these links: LINK
2.Avviate blackra1n and connect your Apple device to your PC via USB cable.

5. Click icon blackra1n to open the program, select “Cydia” and click on “Install”. Icy Rock or do not install because some users have complained of problems with these two applications. Only install Cydia.
6. after installation reboot your iPhone / iPod.
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS! Blackra1n If you were to lock during its execution then you can try to forcibly close the following processes: iTunes, iTunesHelper.exe, applemobiledevice and bonjour. Then proceed again with the procedure.
In case your iPhone were to crash during the “running …” you have to restore, restart the iPhone / iPod and rerun blackra1n. Everything should work perfectly. Otherwise, try also to change the USB port for connecting the device to your PC.
Blackra1n If you feel the lack of file “QTCF.dll”, download the file from this link and place it in the same folder where blackra1n.exe. Then restart the application.
If you are using Windows 7 as the operating system and blackra1n not working properly then start the application as an Administrator in Compatibility mode with “Windows Vista

UPDATE! For Mac OS X! For all those who use Mac operating system is finally available for you to blackra1n software to jailbreak Apple devices with Firmware 3.1.2 and 3.1. The terminals are supported 3GS iPhone, 3G and 2G and models of 1G and 2G iPod Touch. As for the iPod touch 3G seems that the method is ineffective and that ultimately there must be a good restore. So for the lucky owners of a third-generation iPod Touch strongly advise you to wait for an ad hoc basis. Here is the link to download the version of blackra1n for MAC.

for starters i had to track down a few dll. files to mke blackra1n work. now i pressed make it ra1n and it say after like 30 seconds that my jailbreak is done blah blah blah but then it says that it is waiting for reboot, my screen is blck and does nothing. i dont know what to do can someone help me.? i can make my ipod go back to before i tried to jB it but… idk what to do please help/ oh and its an ipt2G running 3.1.3 firmware.

OK… But I have done that… and run the shortcut twice. It takes 10 minuets to run. then it reboots. but there is no blackra1n icon….
I have done unlocking for 3 gs version 3.1.2.But when I SWITCH OFF the phone ,it again locked automatically.
so if my battery power run down,it is a risk.

There does not seem to be a definitive guide on how to proceed, if you have already jailbroken (with blackra1n) and unlocked (?) your iPhone and now want to upgrade to iOS 4 (I am currently running OS 3.1 and have 05.11.07 baseband). If someone is aware of such a guide, please let me know. If not… I would request that the the developers of these wonderful tools provide some guidance on how to proceed. Thanks… Bill
For Matthew on 06/01/2010… connect your PHONE to PC or MAC, open up iTunes (check to see first if iTunes automatically syncs phone, if so, turn this setting off in itunes, just set it to manually sync)… wait for phone to be recognized and just wait it out. Be careful to not reboot phone or to not turn on airplane mode. I’m not sure why it does it this way with this particular version. I’m thinking of upgrading to OS 4 but not until I find out if everything is okay.

anybody out there who is having trouble jailbreaking? try Limera1n. it’s still a bit buggy and may not jailbreak your device. it is a great alternative jailbreaking software. also made by geohot.

I have the iPod 2G version (8 GB). The firmware is 3.1.2 but I’ve had this jailbroken using an earlier version of blackra1n when I first heard of this. I am wanting to upgrade to the closest higher firmware version that this 2G has and jailbreak it again. What firmware version can I get for this 2G brand and then use to jailbreak again? Cydia is saying it’s not a good idea to be upgrading right now. I’m a little confused on this.

I have been trying to download blackra1n on my computer but everytime I run it says ASL.dll must be downloaded, can someone please help me. I have been at Kinkos using their internet since 12 for 5 and a half hours. Please call me Rob at 305-338-6160
Running 4.2.1 on an iPhone 3gs. Firmware is 05.15.04 – Followed basic tutorial (first time jailbreaking an iphone), when connected I do not get the GeoHut logo replacing the “Connect to iTunes” logo on my phone. I get the “Connect to iTunes” logo, and blackra1n won’t work if iTunes is closed, but if it’s open then it sits there for 20minutes without doing anything. I haven’t locked the phone yet, *fingers staying crossed* but this is getting very frustrating.
Any help?
